Robert Groborne’s work includes sculptures, bas-reliefs, paintings, drawings and photo-graphs. Figures are metamorphosed with the different possibilities offered by each medium, gaining new features as they migrate from on technique to another. The artist constantly questions his materials:  object found, material from everyday life that are poetically metamorphosed by mechanical and chemical manipulations, then stored in their monumental effects.

His sculptures are rare since they are one of a kind. A striking formal purity emanates from his rigorous work. The quality of the sheen requires long and meticulous effort, and the long and eroded lines recall wear and the passage of time, the ephemeral character of life.   His work seems to resonate the work of Hubert Robert who, in the 18th century revealed a veritable poem of ruins, a metaphor of times passes.

Searching of new mediums, he is currently working on electronic drawings.

Robert Groborne plays around with fullness and emptiness giving a sensation of a fragile, but stable balance solidly positioned in its form and environment.  His meditative work encourages introspection.

We are showing forty-some works from the 70’s to 2019.
